BIO I am an amateur photographer from Edinburgh. My work often blends artistic vision with technical precision, creating images that evoke emotion and tell powerful stories. I was born in Brighton, but grew up and lived in Portugal for more than 40 years. I moved to Scotland with my family in 2013, and have been living in Edinburgh since then. From an early age I’ve been learning about photography — or at least trying to — very occasionally from success but mostly through failure and persistence. As Feynman once said, 'Study hard what interests you the most in the most undisciplined, irreverent and original manner possible.' My strongest inspiration comes from the works of many amateur and professional photographers and, among many other things, the constant belief that my best photograph is 'just' one thousand clicks away.
I work with both digital and film photography, using a mix of modern digital cameras and vintage classics to explore different creative possibilities. Shooting on 35mm, medium and large format film allows me to slow down and be more intentional with each frame, while digital offers flexibility and immediacy. I also enjoy the hands-on process of darkroom printing, where the tactile experience of developing and printing film often adds another layer of connection to the final image. Whether working with traditional or modern techniques, I love the unique qualities each format and technique brings to storytelling and visual expression.
